The DSS Architecture Principal Architect joins the Infrastructure Platforms - Data & Specialty Services team to provide technical leadership for critical infrastructure and data platforms. This role involves developing target-state architectures and multi-year roadmaps for diverse estates including mainframe, midrange compute, payments infrastructure, and electronic trading services. You will partner with engineers to deliver reusable patterns, modernize complex estates, and ensure solutions are secure and scalable. Key responsibilities include advising on technology trade-offs, creating machine-readable architecture artifacts, and mentoring senior engineers. Required skills include expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, and at least one programming language. You will utilize AWS, Terraform, and AI-enabled engineering practices to solve complex problems regarding technical debt, migration, and operational resiliency across high-volume digital workflows and enterprise data services.
Advise cross-functional teams on technology selection and architecture trade-offs regarding security, cost, and strategic alignment.
Lead architecture for complex hybrid estates including cloud, on-premises, SaaS, and mainframe technologies.
Develop target-state architectures, capability maps, and multi-year modernization roadmaps for assigned product lines.
Create reusable architecture patterns, reference implementations, and machine-readable artifacts for engineering teams.
Mature architecture governance processes including RFCs, ADRs, and auditable decision records.
Apply enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to accelerate architecture analysis and engineering practices.
Develop, review, and debug production code, prototypes, and infrastructure definitions.
Mentor architects and senior engineers while communicating technical strategy to senior executives.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on architecture concepts and 10+ years of applied experience.
Deep knowledge of software, applications, and architecture across disciplines like cloud, distributed systems, data, or mainframe platforms.
Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, automation, and operational stability in complex production environments.
Expertise in one or more programming languages and architecture modeling for platforms and technical products.
Demonstrated experience developing target-state architecture and multi-year technology roadmaps for modernization and migration.
Experience making complex architecture decisions regarding trade-offs between performance, security, cost, and regulatory requirements.
Experience leading a product, platform, or significant technology initiative as a product owner, technical lead, or architect.
Experience architecting mission-critical platforms for financial transactions, payments, or electronic trading (preferred).
