JOB TITLE: Distinguished Engineer (Decisioning Platform) The Distinguished Engineer (Decisioning Platform) joins the Card Decisioning Platform team to provide architectural guidance and technical leadership for building a destination workflow orchestration platform. This role involves decomposing complex problems into practical solutions, writing code, reviewing pull requests, and creating proofs of concept. You will serve as a thought leader to ensure the platform is scalable, resilient, and multi-tenant while mentoring engineers and product partners. Key technical requirements include proficiency in Java, Python, and Go, along with experience in cloud native technologies such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. You will also leverage knowledge of AI agents and agent orchestration to support real-time decision-making for customer transactions, fraud detection, credit inquiries, and applications across card, lending, and banking products.

What you'll do

Write production code, create proofs of concept, and perform code reviews at a fast pace.
Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership to build a scalable, multi-tenant workflow orchestration platform.
Decompose complex problems into practical, operational solutions through low-level designs and hands-on engineering.
Serve as an authoritative expert on non-functional system characteristics including performance, scalability, and observability.
Mentor engineers and product leaders to strengthen technical expertise and coach the next generation of distinguished engineers.
Remove technical impediments for engineering teams and establish a high-quality engineering culture and developer experience.
Articulate and evangelize a bold technical vision for the decisioning platform and its associated technologies.

What we're looking for

Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred).
At least 7 years of experience as a hands-on full stack or backend technologist.
At least 5 years of professional experience coding in Java, Python, or Go.
At least 5 years of experience in software engineering, architecture, solution architecture, or site reliability engineering.
At least 3 years of experience in cloud native technologies such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
10+ years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development (preferred).
8+ years of experience in designing large scale and resilient applications (preferred).
3+ years of experience with solutioning a large scale platform (preferred).
Familiarity with AI agents, agent orchestration, and architecture (preferred).
