JOB TITLE: Director of Data & AI Products
The Director of Data & AI Products serves as the global technical product leader for a large, regulated commercial data and AI ecosystem. This role involves owning the product operating model, multi-year portfolio strategy, and investment trade-offs for data products, AI-enabling capabilities, and platform services. You will build and scale a team of product professionals to move the organization from project-based delivery to product-based ownership. Key responsibilities include defining roadmaps, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance-by-design. You must demonstrate fluency in modern cloud, data, analytics, and AI patterns, including ETL/ELT, data lakes, APIs, and event streams. Relevant technologies include AWS, Azure, GCP, Snowflake, Iceberg, Airflow, dbt, Alation, SageMaker, and Microsoft AI capabilities. The role solves complex data latency, reliability, and discoverability problems across global commercial brands.
Own the global commercial data and AI technical product operating model and multi-year portfolio strategy.
Translate commercial product roadmaps into durable, measurable technical roadmaps for data and AI products.
Manage the annual engineering and technical portfolio budget, including investment trade-offs and cost-to-serve optimization.
Build and scale a global team of Technical Product Managers through hiring, coaching, and performance management.
Define standards for product lifecycle discipline, including discovery, funding, launch, adoption, and retirement.
Partner with architecture, engineering, and security teams to ensure technical decisions align with business value and risk posture.
Chair technical steering committees and influence executive stakeholders through technical narratives and performance metrics.
Drive measurable technology outcomes such as reduced data latency, system uptime, and engineering productivity gains.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s Degree plus 12+ years of progressive experience in technical product management, platform leadership, data and analytics, or AI-enabled products.
Demonstrated ability to define multi-year strategy, secure executive alignment, and translate business objectives into funded roadmaps.
Experience developing, launching, and operating multiple production data products and AI-enabled capabilities at enterprise scale.
Proven experience leading a shift from project-based delivery to product-based operating models in evolving organizations.
Proven experience in product talent buildout, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and establishing product management standards.
Demonstrated portfolio investment ownership, including annual OPEX/CAPEX planning, capacity allocation, and vendor spend management.
Deep understanding of modern data ecosystems including ETL/ELT, data warehouses, APIs, event streams, and governance at scale.
Technology fluency in cloud, data, analytics, AI, and platform reliability patterns, including tools like AWS, Azure, Snowflake, and Python.
Experience in regulated industries, specifically life sciences or pharma commercial data and analytics (preferred).
Experience building enterprise data/AI platforms and governance operating models across multiple business units and geographies (preferred).
Experience managing complex vendor ecosystems and strategic partners, including RFPs and large-scale change management (preferred).
