TL;DR · Director, Autonomous Vehicles Platform

As the Director, Autonomous Vehicles Platform, you will lead teams responsible for vehicle and sensor abstraction layers to bridge autonomous driving software with physical hardware. You will collaborate with OEM partners to manage end-to-end platform integration and adapt technology into specific solutions. Your daily responsibilities include designing plug-in frameworks, developing high-performance C++ code using CUDA for GPGPU acceleration, conducting in-vehicle tests, and analyzing sensor data to improve system utilization. The role requires expertise in multithreaded systems, Linux, Android, and real-time operating systems, alongside experience with ROS or GStreamer. You will ensure software meets MISRA standards while solving complex problems related to low-latency performance and hardware integration. This position focuses on the technical challenge of enabling real-time autonomy by creating scalable interfaces between autonomous software and diverse vehicle configurations across various sensor inputs and actuator commands.

What you'll do

  • Lead end-to-end platform integration and adapt technology to specific OEM solutions.
  • Design and develop software abstractions for vehicle and sensor adaptation layers (VAL and SAL).
  • Build mechanisms to simplify software integration across diverse vehicle and sensor configurations.
  • Enhance existing frameworks through extensive real-world and synthetic testing to improve performance.
  • Conduct in-vehicle tests and analyze sensor data to support autonomous drive missions.
  • Write high-performance, production-quality C++ code utilizing GPGPU (CUDA) for accelerated processing.
  • Develop unit tests and documentation while ensuring compliance with MISRA and automotive safety standards.

What we're looking for

  • MS or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering field (or equivalent experience).
  • Relevant industry experience.
  • 8+ years of experience managing a team.
  • Excellent C and C++ programming skills for high-performance, low-latency software.
  • Experience developing and debugging multithreaded/distributed applications such as multimedia systems or game engines.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux, Android, and other real-time operating systems.
  • Experience with robotics frameworks like ROS or multimedia frameworks like GStreamer.
  • Knowledge of automotive systems including ADAS, AUTOSAR, and drive-by-wire systems.
