The Digital Solutions and Platform Engineer joins the Acacia Infrastructure and Service Operations team to provide a resilient technology foundation for high-speed optical networking operations. This role focuses on ensuring the operational reliability of platforms supporting engineering and business workflows by diagnosing complex issues, automating repeatable tasks, and reducing technical debt to improve system performance as the environment scales. The successful candidate will balance hands-on engineering with architectural thinking to transform recurring incidents into lasting improvements. Key responsibilities include managing infrastructure components like virtualization, servers, storage, networking, and backup systems. Required skills include proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash, along with experience using configuration-management tools like Ansible or Terraform. The role addresses the technical challenge of providing stable, supportable systems for demanding environments including manufacturing, lab testing, and global supply chain operations.
Own the operational reliability of platforms supporting engineering and business workflows.
Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across identity, applications, and networks.
Automate repetitive infrastructure and operational tasks using scripting languages like Python or PowerShell.
Reduce technical debt to ensure consistent performance as the environment scales.
Design and implement technical improvements such as platform upgrades and workflow integrations.
Participate in an on-call rotation for scheduled maintenance and incident response.
Translate business requirements into technical solutions through stakeholder interviews and workflow mapping.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Five or more years of hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise infrastructure including virtualization, servers, storage, networking, or backup/recovery.
Demonstrated experience independently diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues across multiple domains like identity, applications, and networks.
Proven ability to automate infrastructure or operational tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash and configuration-management tools.
Professional experience in designing and implementing technical improvements like platform upgrades or workflow integrations.
Ability to work from the Massachusetts office at least three days per week and participate in an on-call rotation.
Experience supporting demanding environments such as engineering, lab, test, manufacturing, or supply chain (preferred).
Experience with infrastructure-as-code, cloud platforms, architecture frameworks, or relevant professional certifications (preferred).
