Databricks Data Governance Engineer

What you'll do

• Design and implement RBAC and ABAC models within Databricks Unity Catalog including data structures and tagging standards.
• Define security architectures for data access using dynamic views, row-level security, and column masking.
• Develop identity governance approaches for service principals, workload identities, and enterprise identity provider integrations.
• Translate regulatory, contractual, and compliance requirements into practical technical controls within the Databricks platform.
• Establish and maintain data classification standards and tagging structures to support scalable access control.
• Implement grants, catalogs, and access controls as code using Terraform or Databricks Asset Bundles.
• Create guardrails, templates, and streamlined workflows for data engineers to manage access while maintaining security.

What we're looking for

• U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
• Ability to obtain a government security clearance (preferred).
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or a Master's degree (preferred).
• At least 8 years of experience as a Software Engineer or Data Engineer with a focus on data platform security and automation, or 6 years with a Master's.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience implementing Databricks Unity Catalog security features.
• Experience designing and implementing RBAC and ABAC models at scale using Databricks Unity Catalog, dynamic views, and row/column level filtering.
• Fluency with identity and federation patterns including SCIM, service principals, and integration with enterprise identity providers like Entra ID.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for automation, monitoring, and compliance; experience with Terraform or Databricks Asset Bundles (preferred).
