As a Data Specialist on the STU team of Cat Digital, you will employ data analytics to assess technical performance and provide system enhancement recommendations. You will work with SQL, other data programming languages, and web technologies while navigating the ETL process and information management methodologies. The role requires expertise in database design, cloud computing, and agile development to manage complex technical concepts. Key tools and technologies include AWS services like DynamoDB, S3, Aurora, Kinesis, SQS, SNS, Lambda, Fargate, and Glue, along with Snowflake, Alteryx, and knowledge of XML and JSON formats. You will address challenges involving data governance, metadata management, and data quality across various architectures.

What you'll do

  • Use data analytics to assess technical performance and provide system enhancement recommendations.
  • Analyze customer requirements based on conformed models to deliver implementable and maintainable solutions.
  • Identify and resolve data inaccuracies within large, diverse datasets.
  • Research, design, and document data specifications throughout the entire production lifecycle.
  • Develop databases through the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) process.
  • Create conceptual and logical data models for big data, analytics, and applications.
  • Design and implement cloud computing solutions using AWS technologies and Snowflake.
  • Manage information architecture to collect and distribute data from multiple sources for operational efficiency.

What we're looking for

  • Proficiency in SQL and other data programming languages.
  • Working knowledge of database systems, including physical design and establishing effective data models.
  • Working knowledge of the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) process to develop databases.
  • Working knowledge of agile methodologies and the agile development lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge of cloud computing concepts, technologies, and services for various business environments.
  • Working knowledge of data, process, and events to analyze and document logical relationships.
  • Extensive knowledge of Information Architecture and Information Management (IM) methodology.
  • Knowledge of XML and JSON file formats; experience with Object Oriented Concepts/Development/Modeling.
  • Understanding of information management concepts like controlled vocabularies and schema design (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end data lifecycle, including data warehouses, relational databases, and data lakehouses (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data architecture (preferred).
  • Experience creating data solutions and conceptual/logical data models (preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience with Big Data design and AWS Cloud technologies like DynamoDB, S3, and Glue (preferred).
  • Experience with Snowflake, business intelligence tools, or Alteryx (preferred).
