JOB TITLE: Data Platform SRE, AI & Data Platforms (AiDP) The Data Platform SRE joins the AI & Data Platforms team within the Information Systems and Technology organization. In this role, you will develop and operate large-scale big data platforms using open source and other solutions to support critical applications like analytics, reporting, and AI/ML apps. Your daily responsibilities include optimizing platform performance and cost efficiency, automating operational tasks, and identifying or resolving production errors to ensure reliability. You will utilize programming languages including Java, Scala, Python, and Go, while working with Apache Spark, Apache Iceberg, and data lake technologies. The role requires proficiency in AWS, GCP, and Unix/Linux systems. You will solve complex problems related to distributed data processing, multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters, and data pipeline orchestration using tools like Airflow and DBT.

What you'll do

  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting in complex production environments.

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with large-scale big data platforms.
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Scala, Python, or Go.
  • Proven expertise in operating large-scale distributed data processing systems with a focus on Apache Spark.
  • Hands-on experience with table formats and data lake technologies such as Apache Iceberg.
  • Strong background in incident management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization.
  • Proficiency with cloud technologies such as AWS and GCP.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux systems and command-line tools for debugging and operational support.
  • Experience with multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters, workflow orchestration tools, and the AI/ML stack (preferred).
