The Data Platform Engineer, Senior Staff joins the Information Technology Group to design, build, and operate a modern data platform using Databricks Lakehouse as the core foundation. Key technical requirements include expertise in AWS, Python, Bash, SQL, and NoSQL databases, alongside proficiency with Terraform, Terramate, Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, and MLflow. You will also define SLIs/SLOs for platform reliability, manage security and compliance controls, and mentor engineers to improve system design, scalability, and cost optimization across distributed data systems.

What you'll do

Design and build scalable, distributed data platform systems using Databricks Lakehouse.
Own Databricks workspace architecture, governance, and lifecycle management.
Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform and Terramate.
Build and support end-to-end data pipelines from ingestion to analytics and ML.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure, data pipelines, and ML artifacts.
Operate and optimize Amazon EKS clusters supporting data workloads.
Define and monitor SLIs/SLOs for platform reliability and data quality.
Implement strong security, compliance, and governance controls.

What we're looking for

Must have 7+ years of IT experience with a Bachelor's degree or 9+ years of IT experience without a degree.
Must have 5+ years of programming experience in languages such as Java or Python.
Must have 3+ years of experience with SQL or NoSQL databases and 3+ years with data structures and algorithms.
Must have 8+ years of experience building and operating large-scale cloud platforms and 5+ years in Data Platform, DevOps, SRE, or DataOps roles.
Must have expert-level experience with AWS and hands-on experience with Databricks Lakehouse Platform, including Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, and MLflow.
Must have deep experience with Terraform/Terramate, CI/CD pipelines, and managing Amazon EKS clusters.
Must have AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional certification or equivalent experience.
Experience with Acceldata, OpenTelemetry, Fivetran, Hashicorp Vault, or OPA is preferred (preferred).
