As a Cyber Defense Infrastructure Support Engineer, you will join a mission-focused team supporting the Navy’s cybersecurity environment at the Hopper Global Communications Center. You will serve as a senior technical resource providing Tier 3 escalation support, performing root cause analysis, and leading the engineering and administration of cybersecurity capabilities. Your daily responsibilities include building, configuring, and maintaining security systems across complex network environments while conducting system hardening and Risk Management Framework activities. You will work with Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems, utilizing tools such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Elastic, BeyondTrust Retina, Tenable Nessus, and VMware. Additionally, you will leverage scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, and Java to manage infrastructure. The role focuses on protecting critical TS/SCI networks by ensuring the reliable operation of essential cybersecurity tools and services within a high-security defense environment.
Research and evaluate emerging cybersecurity technologies for potential integration into the enterprise environment.
Lead the engineering, implementation, and administration of new cybersecurity tools and systems.
Install, configure, and maintain cybersecurity technologies across complex network environments.
Perform network and system hardening to meet Risk Management Framework (RMF) and DoD requirements.
Provide Tier 3 technical support including complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance tuning.
Manage the lifecycle of cybersecurity tools, including upgrades, maintenance, and interoperability validation.
Develop technical documentation, system diagrams, procedures, and user guides for internal use.
Create and deliver training on cybersecurity architectures, technologies, and operational processes.
What we're looking for
Active TS/SCI Security clearance in DISS.
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Information Assurance, or a related field (Master's preferred).
15+ years of relevant professional experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
10+ years of professional experience with LAN/WAN technologies, networking protocols, and Windows/Unix/Linux environments.
6+ years of professional experience integrating, implementing, and operating cybersecurity technologies.
Knowledge of SIEM platforms (Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Elastic), vulnerability management tools (BeyondTrust Retina, Tenable Nessus, SCAP), and virtualization technologies.
Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Ruby, JavaScript, PowerShell, C, C++, or Java.
Active IAT/IAM Level II/III DoD 8570 certification (SecurityX CE or CASP) and Computing Environment (CE) certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
