TL;DR · Computer Vision Engineer, Space

As a Computer Vision Engineer at Anduril Industries in Washington DC, you will join a dynamic team focused on developing advanced perception subsystems for spacecraft. Your role involves designing and implementing computer vision algorithms, truth modeling, scene rendering, and simulation analysis across various orbital missions such as LEO, MEO, GEO, reentry, and RPOD. You will collaborate closely with teams like Sensors, GNC, Avionics, Systems, Flight Software, Mission Operations, and Ground Software to ensure successful implementation, validation, and operations of space vehicle CV systems. Key responsibilities include developing test plans for ground checkout and on-orbit commissioning, designing flight software and firmware, and creating autonomy tools for dynamic space operations. The ideal candidate holds an MS or PhD in Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Science, or Image Science with extensive experience in computer vision techniques like object detection, tracking, segmentation, SLAM, and multi-view geometry. Familiarity with terminal guidance, rendezvous proximity operations, docking, orbital mechanics, and spacecraft GNC is essential, along with a Top Secret security clearance.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement computer vision software and hardware subsystems for various spacecraft.
  • Develop test plans and procedures to validate CV systems during ground checkout and on-orbit operations.
  • Create flight software, firmware, algorithms, and simulation products for space vehicle autonomy tools.
  • Lead the successful validation and operational implementation of CV systems in space vehicles.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including Sensors, GNC, Avionics, Systems, and Mission Operations.

What we're looking for

  • MS or PhD in Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Science, or Image Science with emphasis on Computer Vision.
  • Advanced experience developing and benchmarking ML algorithms on large-scale datasets.
  • Experience in object detection, tracking, instance segmentation, semantic segmentation, and 3D geometry.
  • Familiarity with visual odometry, SLAM, multi-view geometry, and spacecraft guidance, navigation, and control (GNC).
  • Top Secret security clearance required.
  • Preferred: Strong background in computer vision, image processing, feature tracking, and OpenCV.
