The Commercial & Business Services Deployment Engineer joins the Network Engineering team to lead and support the end-to-end coordination and execution of engineering and deployment activities. This role involves managing the full lifecycle of Commercial Edge Gateway deployments in Co-locations and Cell Backhaul MSC deployments in Carrier facilities. Key responsibilities include coordinating with cross-functional teams, developing engineering installation documentation, and managing the ordering and provisioning of Letters of Authorization for customer cross-connects. The position requires technical proficiency in verifying connectivity on routers and switches, troubleshooting configurations, and understanding MetroE, NNI, and fiber plant infrastructure. The engineer ensures seamless integration and timely delivery of national and regional infrastructure projects while facilitating inner-facility cross-connects and ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory standards.
Lead the end-to-end coordination and execution of engineering and deployment activities for Commercial Edge Gateway and Cell Backhaul MSC projects.
Support the full lifecycle of hardware deployments, including migration from end-of-life hardware to the Nextgen platform.
Develop and maintain detailed engineering installation documentation, network diagrams, site readiness checklists, and configuration templates.
Maintain comprehensive tracking systems for deployment timelines, milestones, and risk assessments while providing regular status reports to leadership.
Manage the ordering, provisioning, and tracking of Letters of Authorization (LOAs) for customer cross-connects at edge gateway locations.
Coordinate with internal provisioning teams and external carriers to ensure timely delivery of MetroE services.
Serve as the primary point of contact for deployment-related inquiries, escalations, and technical reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
Identify process enhancements and automation opportunities to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
What we're looking for
2+ years of experience in network engineering (preferred in business services or cell backhaul environments).
2-5 years of relevant work experience.
Bachelor's Degree (preferred, but may consider equivalent coursework and experience).
Strong project management, documentation, and communication skills.
Ability to verify connectivity on routers and switches, manage configurations, and perform troubleshooting.
Understanding of Metro E, NNI, and cross-connect provisioning.
Familiarity with LOA processes, fiber plant infrastructure, and network edge technologies.
