As a Co-Op Security Consultant 2027 - Strategy, Risk & Compliance, you will join IBM Consulting to support clients by improving their security posture through integrated solutions involving people, processes, and technologies. Working alongside senior consultants, you will collect and analyze business and technical requirements to monitor, detect, plan, build, implement, and support advanced security solutions across all engagement phases. You will participate in design activities ranging from requirements analysis to system and process specification. The role requires a consultative mindset, strong communication skills, and knowledge of networking fundamentals, operating systems like Windows, Linux, and macOS, and encryption protocols. Preferred technical expertise includes experience with Java, Python, C/C++, Ruby, or Go, as well as familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools, firewalls, and identity management to solve complex security challenges for diverse clients.
Collect and analyze business and technical requirements to solve complex client challenges.

What we're looking for
High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
Strong interest in cybersecurity and basic understanding of security concepts.
Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and macOS.
Knowledge of networking fundamentals and protocols.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, critical-thinking, communication, and writing skills.
Experience in security domains, network design, or software development (preferred); exposure to programming languages like Python or Java (preferred).
