You will manage cloud cost optimization by monitoring usage trends, identifying anomalies, and building prioritized pipelines for rightsizing and resource cleanup. Responsibilities include managing commitment-based discounts like AWS Savings Plans, developing unit-cost models, and creating executive-ready dashboards. The role requires proficiency in AWS, with working knowledge of GCP and Azure cost management. You will utilize SQL, Python, and advanced Excel to analyze complex datasets and automate reporting. Key technical focus areas include AI-assisted analytics, GPU utilization tracking, and managing costs for machine learning workloads while ensuring governance across various cloud platforms.

What you'll do

  • Manage and improve cloud financial management platforms including IBM Apptio Cloudability, AWS native tools, and GCP/Azure capabilities.
  • Monitor cloud and AI usage trends to investigate anomalies, billing discrepancies, and forecast variances.
  • Build and manage a prioritized optimization pipeline for rightsizing, resource cleanup, and architecture changes.
  • Analyze and manage commitment-based discount opportunities such as AWS Savings Plans and Reserved Instances.
  • Develop cost estimates, unit-cost models, and scenario analyses for cloud migrations and modernization projects.
  • Create automated reports, dashboards, and executive-ready insights using standardized cost and usage data.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators including forecast accuracy, commitment utilization, and realized savings.
  • Develop guardrails and tracking for AI/ML costs including GPU usage, API calls, and token consumption.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, architecture, operations, development, IT finance, business analytics, or FinOps.
  • Experience with AWS cost and usage management including Organizations, Cost Explorer, Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, and Marketplace.
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture and cost drivers across compute, containers, databases, serverless, storage, networking, and AI/ML services.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, advanced Excel, or similar tools to analyze large datasets and automate financial models.
  • Working knowledge of finance, accounting, variance analysis, unit economics, and business analytics.
  • Experience with cloud billing platforms; IBM Apptio Cloudability experience is preferred.
  • Relevant cloud certification such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate, AWS Cloud Practitioner, Google Associate Cloud Engineer, or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (preferred).
  • Experience with BI tools, data pipelines, infrastructure as code, and managing AI/ML costs (preferred).
