Ceph Cluster Development Engineer (C++ Focus)

What you'll do

• Design, build, and operate large-scale Ceph clusters including RADOS, RGW, and RBD components.
• Extend and develop Ceph core subsystems using C++ programming for OSD, RGW, and BlueStore modules.
• Profile and optimize performance across network, disk I/O, and replication layers like CRUSH rules.
• Develop automation tools and scripts for cluster lifecycle management, including deployment, scaling, and failover.
• Integrate Ceph with Kubernetes environments using Rook-Ceph and CSI drivers.
• Implement multi-site replication and disaster recovery architectures to ensure high availability.
• Build observability pipelines using Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring metrics and health analytics.
• Maintain secure storage solutions utilizing dm-crypt, KMS integration, and CephX authentication.

What we're looking for

• Proficiency in C++ (C++11 or later) for large-scale distributed systems or kernel-adjacent development.
• Deep understanding of Ceph architecture and core components including MON, OSD, MGR, RGW, MDS, and CRUSH maps.
• Proficiency in Linux systems programming and debugging using tools like gdb, perf, and valgrind.
• Experience with Python or Go for developing tooling and automation scripts.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Rook-Ceph, Helm, and Ansible.
• Strong foundation in data replication, erasure coding, and consistency models in distributed storage.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP, HTTP/S3 APIs, block storage (RBD/iSCSI), and object storage semantics.
