Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Camera Software

What you'll do

• Develop and ship machine learning models that power mobile imaging experiences for iPhone and iPad.
• Transition research ideas into commercially viable, efficient, and reliable on-device algorithms.
• Optimize models for edge inference using techniques like quantization, pruning, and distillation.
• Design and scale ML pipelines to process large, real-world datasets.
• Influence technical direction by staying current with computer vision, deep learning, and multimodal models.
• Provide technical leadership by driving cross-functional initiatives and mentoring other engineers and researchers.
• Implement advanced image processing techniques such as optical flow, object tracking, or generative models.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of combined research and hands-on engineering experience building and shipping ML systems.
• Proven track record of productizing ML research from prototype to on-device deployment using optimization and quantization techniques.
• Experience designing and scaling ML pipelines against large, real-world datasets.
• Demonstrated technical leadership in setting direction, driving cross-functional initiatives, and mentoring others.
• Depth in image processing, optical flow, object tracking, generative models, or modern deep learning architectures.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals including programming, debugging, and system design.
• Proficiency in PyTorch and the core scientific/imaging Python stack such as NumPy, Pandas, OpenCV, and Pillow.
• Experience optimizing models for on-device inference and proficiency in C++ or Objective-C.
