CAD Administrator
As a CAD Administrator, you will join the engineering and manufacturing teams to establish, maintain, and optimize the Siemens NX CAD environment. You will be responsible for developing and monitoring templates, customization files, and role-based configurations while providing specialized technical support for CAD software applications like NX and SolidWorks. Your daily responsibilities include managing the IT helpdesk queue via Jira Service Desk, resolving Tier 1 and Tier 2 tickets, onboarding new hires with configured workstations, and creating self-service documentation. You will also provide technical leadership and training to design teams while leading projects to improve the CAD/PLM environment. The role requires proficiency in NX logs, Teamcenter PLM, and advanced troubleshooting across CAD, CAM, and CAE environments to ensure reliable tools for designing and delivering defense solutions at scale.
Develop, implement, and optimize the Siemens NX CAD environment including templates, customization files, and role-based configurations.
Provide specialized technical support for CAD software applications like NX and SolidWorks to engineering teams.
Manage the IT helpdesk queue by triaging, categorizing, and resolving Tier 1 and Tier 2 tickets.
Onboard new hires by configuring CAD-capable workstations, user accounts, and necessary software permissions.
Create and maintain self-service documentation and internal knowledge base articles for users.
Provide technical leadership, training, and mentorship to engineering teams as the primary point of escalation for NX issues.
Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance the reliability and capability of the CAD/PLM environment.
Ensure all CAD configuration activities comply with site security, quality, and regulatory standards.
What we're looking for
Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Drafting/Design, or equivalent work experience.
2–4 years of experience in an IT helpdesk or technical support role.
Minimum 1–2 years of experience supporting or using CAD platforms like NX or SolidWorks in a professional environment.
Working knowledge of interpreting NX Logs and Sys Logs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical staff.
Excellent troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to diagnosing complex software conflicts.
Experience administering Teamcenter PLM, including workflow, BOM, and access configuration (preferred).
Multi-skilled experience in Siemens NX administration across CAD, CAM, and CAE environments (preferred); capable of obtaining U.S. Secret clearance (preferred).
