TL;DR · C++ Mission Software Engineer, Mission Autonomy

C++ Mission Software Engineer, Mission Autonomy joins the Air Dominance & Strike team to develop aerial and multi-domain robotic systems like Fury and Barracuda. This role involves building a powerful autonomy software stack that includes computer vision, motion planning, SLAM, controls, estimation, and secure communications. The engineer will work on Lattice for Mission Autonomy, a platform enabling robots to collaborate across various missions while navigating complex code bases and processing large amounts of data. Key technical requirements include production-grade C++ or Rust experience in a Linux environment, along with expertise in distributed communication networks, message standards, and behavior trees. The role addresses the challenge of creating autonomous systems for flight systems and safety-critical functionality. Candidates should possess strong backgrounds in physics, mathematics, and motion planning to inform modeling and simulation for multi-agent autonomous systems.

What you'll do

  • Develop autonomous software stacks including computer vision, motion planning, SLAM, and control systems.
  • Build and maintain production-grade code in C++ or Rust within a Linux environment.
  • Develop the Lattice platform to enable multi-agent robot collaboration across various missions.
  • Design and implement features for flight systems and safety-critical functionality.
  • Develop distributed communication networks and manage message standards for autonomous systems.
  • Build software solutions for large-scale data processing and analysis.
  • Travel up to 30% of the time to build, test, and deploy capabilities in real-world environments.

What we're looking for

  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of production-grade C++ and/or Rust experience in a Linux development environment.
  • Experience building software solutions involving significant amounts of data processing and analysis.
  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
  • Preferred background in Physics, Mathematics, or Motion Planning for modeling and simulation.
  • Experience developing multi-agent autonomous systems and deploying them in real-world environments.
  • Knowledge of distributed communication networks, message standards, and military operational tactics.
