Backend Capability Product Specialist

What you'll do

• Own the product roadmap for backend systems, APIs, and data platform capabilities.
• Define API design standards, versioning strategies, and developer experience principles.
• Manage the integration lifecycle for third-party partners, including EHR/EMR platforms and health data networks.
• Implement interoperability standards such as HL7 FHIR R4 and SMART on FHIR.
• Monitor healthcare technology trends and regulatory shifts to inform the backend roadmap.
• Build ROI-based business cases for platform investments and emerging technologies like generative AI.
• Translate complex technical requirements into actionable product specifications and user stories for engineering teams.
• Track key performance indicators including API adoption, uptime, latency, and developer satisfaction.

What we're looking for

• At least 7 years of product management experience.
• At least 4 years of experience focused on backend systems, APIs, or platform products.
• Proven track record delivering SaaS platform features at scale in a B2B or enterprise context.
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design, webhooks, async messaging, and modern integration patterns.
• Hands-on experience with API management platforms such as Apigee, AWS API Gateway, Kong, or MuleSoft.
• Ability to build investment cases based on ROI modeling, market sizing, and competitive differentiation.
• Experience leading API or platform product strategy and reading technical documentation like OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (HS diploma plus 4 years of relevant experience).
