Automation Engineer, Manufacturing Automation

What you'll do

• Manage automation projects from initial concept and scoping through design, commissioning, and production handover.
• Design and commission automated manufacturing systems to improve throughput, product quality, and operator safety.
• Integrate control systems including PLCs, HMIs, machine vision, robotics, and safety systems across cells.
• Develop 2D and 3D CAD files for automation lines and their specific components using NX or AutoCAD.
• Design and integrate robot/cobot applications, material movement systems, and bespoke electromechanical systems.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to determine appropriate levels of automation for specific products.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot equipment issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field.
• 4+ years of experience designing and commissioning automated production equipment.
• Proficiency in CAD modeling using NX or AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in robot/cobot selection and integration, including path planning, EOAT design, dresspacks, and safety.
• Experience integrating control components such as PLCs, HMIs, pushbuttons, stack lights, and safety scanners.
• Experience with at least one major material movement system like conveyors, robotics, or AGV/AMR.
• Must be a U.S. Person due to access requirements for export-controlled information or facilities.
• 6+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environment (preferred); strong 3D CAD in NX (preferred).
