TL;DR · Audio Video Engineer

As an Audio Video (A/V) Engineer at Uber, you will join the Digital Experience team in a hands-on engineering role to design and implement scalable A/V solutions for complex environments across global offices. Your responsibilities include scripting and configuring A/V systems, proactively monitoring system reliability, and participating in on-call rotations to troubleshoot issues efficiently. You will collaborate with Product Managers, IT, Workplace teams, and third-party vendors to ensure seamless performance, contribute to robust documentation, mentor junior engineers, and lead technical design discussions. Essential skills include proficiency in configuration scripting (Crestron, Q-SYS, Python), deep knowledge of A/V control systems, and experience building monitoring platforms like Zoom Dashboard or Logitech Sync. This role demands strong communication and collaboration abilities, particularly when working with diverse stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical designs while addressing system complexity and performance optimization.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement scalable, high-performing A/V solutions in complex environments.
  • Write and maintain configuration scripts to deploy and manage A/V systems across offices.
  • Build observability into production A/V systems for proactive monitoring and improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during on-call rotations to minimize system downtime.
  • Lead technical design discussions and develop architecture artifacts for A/V systems.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience engineering A/V systems in enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency in configuration/scripting for A/V control systems (Crestron, Q-SYS).
  • Deep understanding of video conferencing technologies and A/V-over-IP.
  • Experience building and maintaining A/V monitoring and telemetry platforms.
  • Strong documentation skills including runbooks, design wikis, and SOPs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
