Associate Principal Scientist/Engineer, Medical Device and Combination Products, Analytical will join the Center for Packaging & Device Analytics as an individual contributor and analytical lead for medical device and combination products projects. Required skills include expertise in analytical chemistry, microscopy, rheometry, x-ray computed tomography, and materials characterization. The role requires proficiency in tensile, compression, and torsional testing to ensure the successful production of drug-delivery medical devices.
Act as the analytical lead for medical device and combination product projects.
Develop and own analytical strategies to satisfy Design Control requirements.
Manage project timelines and coordinate analytical efforts across cross-functional teams.
Create and validate mechanical test methods for device characterization and design verification.
Provide technical oversight for internal staff and external laboratory testing activities.
Perform advanced material characterization using techniques like X-ray CT, rheometry, and microscopy.
Conduct physical science experiments to solve complex problems related to medical devices.
What we're looking for
Ph.D. in Mechanical, Chemical, or Biomedical Engineering (or equivalent field).
Minimum of 3 years experience in medical device or combination product development verification, method development, and testing.
Experience with mechanical testing, imaging, measurement equipment, and techniques including tensile/compression/torsional testing and materials characterization.
Proficiency in x-ray computed tomography, rheometry, and microscopy.
Strong collaboration and leadership skills to work within cross-functional teams to meet project timelines.
Experience developing innovative Device Characterization and Design Verification strategies with validations (preferred).
Experience with medical device development and familiarity with Design Controls (21 CFR 820.30) and relevant industry standards (preferred).
Prior hands-on analytical experience with MDCP and Design Controls (preferred).
