Associate Optical Engineer

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and test optical technologies and systems.
• Specify, select, and qualify active and passive optical components.
• Develop and benchmark system performance models using design and mathematical analysis codes.
• Create and implement test procedures and evaluate appropriate test instrumentation.
• Resolve technical issues for components and products through formal engineering change processes.
• Perform quantitative analysis to determine root causes of technical problems and implement corrective actions.
• Operate airborne sensors to collect EO/IR data during specialized mission trips.

What we're looking for

• Applicants must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• Applicants may have completed a bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field within the last 12 months.
• Experience with optical design codes such as Zemax or Code V is required.
• Experience with mathematical analysis codes such as Matlab, Mathematica, or MathCad is required.
• Opto-mechanical experience is required.
• Knowledge of Optical Metrology including interferometers, image quality metrics, and alignment techniques is required.
• Must be a U.S. citizen to obtain the required security clearance.
