Associate Device Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Design, implement, test, and maintain software for medical devices and engineering tools.
• Write clean, maintainable code and supporting documentation using established engineering practices.
• Support software integration, debugging, and troubleshooting for embedded systems and communication interfaces.
• Develop and execute unit, component, integration, and automated tests for assigned work.
• Participate in code reviews and perform root-cause analysis to resolve product or field issues.
• Contribute to regulated software lifecycle documentation, including requirements, design descriptions, and traceability records.
• Research and use AI-assisted engineering tools while verifying all outputs for accuracy.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience, including internships, co-ops, research, capstone work, academic projects, or industry experience.
• Foundational understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, algorithms, and structured or object-oriented design.
• Experience with one or more programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, or Java through coursework, projects, internships, or employment.
• Basic understanding of software testing, debugging, source control, and configuration management practices.
• Exposure to embedded software, real-time systems, microcontrollers, device communication, or hardware/software integration (preferred).
• Familiarity with communication interfaces or protocols such as UART/RS232, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth (helpful).
• Exposure to regulated product development, medical devices, IEC 62304, ISO 13485, or FDA quality-system requirements (helpful but not required).
