AI/ML Performance Analysis and Validation Engineer

What you'll do

• Build models of applications and platforms to test product viability and project performance.
• Analyze and validate key machine learning use cases against established performance goals.
• Analyze, interpret, and reason about complex performance data sets.
• Define technical requirements for future Apple products based on analysis results.
• Develop tools used to model and simulate the performance of future silicon.
• Evaluate performance trade-offs in distributed computing systems and SoC architectures.
• Identify and resolve open-ended and challenging technical issues related to AI/ML performance.

What we're looking for

• Technical BS/MS/PhD or equivalent degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 3+ years of industry or research experience building performance models and validating AI/ML applications on dedicated accelerators.
• Deep understanding of computer architecture, including processing units, interconnects, and memory systems.
• Strong ability to build, characterize, and reason about models for applications and platforms.
• Understanding of performance trade-offs in distributed computing systems.
• Excellent proficiency in Python and strong software engineering skills.
• Good understanding of machine learning fundamentals and familiarity with PyTorch, JAX, or CoreML.
• Experience with state-of-the-art architectures like CNNs, transformers, and diffusion models is preferred.
