AI/ML Performance Analysis and Validation Engineer

What you'll do

• Build models of applications and platforms to test the viability of future products.
• Project performance of machine learning applications on future Apple Silicon platforms.
• Analyze and validate important use cases on existing products against performance goals.
• Analyze and reason about complex performance data.
• Define technical requirements for future Apple products.
• Present analysis results to cross-functional teams to help define product vision.
• Implement and analyze performance characteristics of state-of-the-art AI/ML architectures.

What we're looking for

• Technical BS/MS/PhD or equivalent degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 3+ years of industry or research experience building performance models and validating AI/ML applications on dedicated accelerators.
• Deep understanding of computer architecture, including processing units, interconnects, and memory systems.
• Strong ability to build models of applications and platforms, characterize their performance, and reason about them.
• Strong understanding of performance trade-offs in distributed computing systems.
• Excellent proficiency in Python and strong software engineering skills.
• Good understanding of machine learning fundamentals and familiarity with ML frameworks like PyTorch, JAX, and CoreML.
• Hands-on experience with CNN, transformer, and diffusion models, and experience in modeling data center architectures (preferred).
