The AI Machine Learning Engineer Intern (BS) joins the Clinical and Development area within the Advanced Intelligence & Research organization. In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers and research scientists to build, deploy, and scale AI systems that accelerate clinical development and improve decision-making across the drug development lifecycle. You will own a scoped project involving training, tuning, and evaluating machine learning models, writing production-quality Python, and building pipelines for predictive models, generative AI applications, or agentic systems. Required skills include proficiency in Python, SQL, and frameworks like PyTorch, scikit-learn, or TensorFlow. You may also utilize Spark, Databricks, AWS, and MLOps tools like MLflow. The work focuses on solving complex pharmaceutical problems using clinical and real-world data to improve patient outcomes.
Train, tune, and evaluate machine learning models using frameworks like PyTorch, scikit-learn, or TensorFlow.
Build and scale production pipelines to support model training and deployment.
Write production-quality Python code to develop AI and data science solutions.
Develop generative AI applications, AI agents, or Model Context Protocol integrations.
Create predictive models using clinical and real-world data for drug development.
Translate complex methods and results for scientific and business partners.
Present project highlights, findings, and recommendations to senior leaders and stakeholders.
What we're looking for
Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Must have completed your Junior year by June 2027.
Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Must have fundamental knowledge of machine learning principles and hands-on experience programming in Python.
Experience with at least one machine learning or deep learning framework such as PyTorch, scikit-learn, or TensorFlow (preferred).
Experience building applications with large language models, including prompt engineering, RAG, agent frameworks, or MCP (preferred).
Experience training and evaluating predictive models on real datasets, including feature engineering and validation (preferred).
Working knowledge of SQL and experience with Spark, PySpark, or cloud platforms like Databricks or AWS (preferred).
