In this role, you will assist in designing and developing flight software algorithms, GNC systems, and simulation models while participating in the integration and testing of hardware and software components during lab, ground, or flight tests. You will analyze data from simulations and test events to improve system performance for UAS and missile technologies. The role requires proficiency in Python or MATLAB, experience with open-source autopilot suites like ArduPilot or PX4, and familiarity with serial communication protocols such as UART, CAN, I2C, and SPI. Candidates should possess skills in control theory, analytical modeling, and hardware integration involving IMUs, GNSS receivers, and flight simulation environments.

What you'll do

  • Design and develop flight software algorithms, GNC systems, or simulation models.
  • Integrate and test software and hardware components in lab, ground, or flight environments.
  • Analyze data from simulations and flight tests to inform system improvements.
  • Solve engineering challenges to enhance the performance of autonomous systems.
  • Develop innovative solutions for UAS and missile technologies.

What we're looking for

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must be returning to school at the end of the internship for at least one quarter or semester.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to access requirements for export-controlled information and facilities.
  • Ability to complete an in-person 12-week internship in summer 2027.
  • Strong foundation in software development, control theory, or analytical modeling (preferred).
  • Keen interest in autonomous systems, UAS, and missile technology (preferred).
  • Experience with robotics teams, rocketry groups, or aerospace-related hobbies like high-power rocketry (preferred).
  • Experience with open-source autopilot suites, flight hardware integration, or data analysis using Python/MATLAB (preferred).
