Vice President, Fidelity Digital Assets® Trading Engineering will join the Trading team to develop high-quality, maintainable software solutions in an agile environment. This hands-on role involves designing and implementing technology solutions for the digital assets business, including high-performance algorithms for crypto trading, while providing technical direction and mentorship to junior team members. The candidate will build features using modern Java with zero GC patterns, utilizing technologies such as Aeron, Solace, 29West, and SQL. Key responsibilities include developing low-latency trading systems, managing exchange connectivity, and implementing cloud-based services via Kubernetes and AWS. The role addresses the technical challenge of building resilient, scalable infrastructure for a platform that manages cryptocurrency trading through crossing engines and smart routers. Required expertise includes experience with FIX protocols, kernel bypass, and distributed systems to solve complex problems in the capital markets and crypto space.
Design and implement high-performance trading and cryptocurrency algorithms for the Digital Asset business.
Write production code for new product features in a hands-on engineering capacity.
Develop low-latency trading systems using Java with zero GC patterns and kernel bypass technologies.
Set technical direction for software developers by finalizing designs with other tech leads and architects.
Build resilient, scalable cloud-based services using Kubernetes and AWS infrastructure.
Mentor junior team members and provide leadership across small, agile development teams.
Implement automated CI/CD pipelines to ensure high-quality software delivery and engineering excellence.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is required.
At least 12 years of software engineering experience is required.
Experience designing and developing low latency trading systems, including SOR, Algo engines, or exchange connectivity for Equities or Crypto is required.
Extensive experience with modern Java using zero GC patterns and ultra-low latency design patterns is required.
Hands-on experience with kernel bypass (e.g., Solarflare OpenOnLoad) and low latency messaging products like Aeron, Solace, or 29West is required.
Proficiency in SQL, relational/time series databases, FIX protocols, and cloud-based deployments using Kubernetes and AWS is required.
Experience in Capital markets or Crypto Currency with exposure to Trading and Algo Trading is required.
Knowledge of Acceptance test-driven development (preferred).
