Lead System Administrator joins the enterprise IT operations team to lead a group in provisioning, installing, configuring, and maintaining system hardware, software, and infrastructure. This role involves managing physical and virtual servers, operating systems, and storage solutions while ensuring high availability for defense and enterprise networks. Key responsibilities include applying DISA STIGs, following Risk Management Framework processes, performing vulnerability scans via ACAS/Nessus, and executing remediation strategies. The candidate will develop automated scripts and workflows using PowerShell, Ansible, Jenkins, and Bitbucket to streamline deployment. Required technical skills include experience with Windows and Linux environments, as well as proficiency in backup and disaster recovery procedures. Necessary qualifications include a DoD Secret clearance and specific certifications including CompTIA Security+, Network+, and AZ-900 to support secure infrastructure and federal compliance standards within a dynamic environment.
Administer and maintain physical and virtual servers, operating systems, and enterprise storage solutions.
Apply DISA STIGs to operating systems, applications, and network devices to ensure security compliance.
Perform vulnerability scans and execute timely system patching and remediation strategies.
Develop and implement automated scripts using PowerShell, Ansible, and Jenkins for configuration management.
Manage enterprise-wide backup procedures and test data integrity and failover systems.
Provide Tier III technical support to resolve complex infrastructure issues.
Create and maintain system topology documentation, standard operating procedures, and configuration logs.
What we're looking for
Must be a United States Citizen.
Must possess and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
Must hold a current DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification.
Must hold current AZ-900 and Network+ certifications.
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in system administration, managing enterprise infrastructure, server operating systems, or virtualized environments.
Experience with DISA STIGs, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and automated vulnerability management platforms like ACAS/Nessus.
Hands-on experience with PowerShell, Ansible, Jenkins, and version control repositories like Bitbucket.
Ability to work on-site in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
