TL;DR · Structures Engineer, Hypersonic Air Vehicles

As a Structures Engineer at the Air Dominance and Strike Aerostructures Engineering Team, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing advanced structural parts for high-speed air vehicles and missile platforms. Your daily tasks include developing new aircraft products using first principle methods and design tools, owning the development of primary and secondary structures from preliminary design to prototype manufacturing, performing complex modeling and finite element analysis, applying design for manufacturing concepts, conducting trade studies, collaborating in a multidisciplinary environment, and providing onsite engineering support at manufacturing sites. The role requires proficiency in CAD software, structural modeling and simulation tools like ANSYS or NASTRAN, and expertise in material properties and stress analysis. Experience with high-speed programs and hands-on manufacturing is preferred for this challenging and dynamic position focused on complex aerospace systems.

What you'll do

  • Develop new aircraft products using first principle methods and design tools.
  • Design primary and secondary structural parts from preliminary to prototype manufacturing.
  • Conduct detailed finite element analysis for strength, buckling, damage tolerance, and delamination.
  • Apply design for manufacturing concepts to ensure cost-effective solutions.
  • Perform trade studies to optimize weight, performance, manufacturability, cost, and schedule.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of aerospace structures experience
  • Proficiency in CAD software and structural modeling/simulation tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN)
  • Strong understanding of material properties, stress analysis, fatigue assessment, and hand calculations
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills for complex engineering problems
  • Self-driven autonomy and adaptability in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment
