As a Staff Software Engineer at Adyen’s Identity & Performance Optimizations team, you will design and develop robust, scalable software systems that integrate Machine Learning models to combat financial crime and fraud on a global scale. Your day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with data scientists and business stakeholders to translate complex problems into technical solutions, evaluating new technologies for adoption, mentoring junior engineers, and driving the strategic direction of the technology roadmap through cross-functional collaboration. The role requires extensive experience in building reliable, scalable systems, strong programming skills in Java (Python a plus), and familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases like Postgres and Cassandra, as well as streaming and queuing frameworks. You will work within Adyen’s financial crime department to ensure proactive detection and mitigation of fraud while minimizing friction for legitimate users, leveraging massive global datasets and cutting-edge AI technologies.

What we're looking for
At least 10-12 years of hands-on experience in software engineering and building data-intensive applications.
Strong background in designing and developing scalable, reliable, and low-latency systems.
Proficiency in Java programming; Python is a plus.
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases like Postgres and Cassandra.
Familiarity with streaming and queuing frameworks such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.
Passion for applying technology to solve real business problems pragmatically.
