Staff Software Engineer, Discovery

What you'll do

• Build scalable services, data models, and APIs for command and control frameworks and autonomous cyber behavior trees.
• Develop distributed software systems that operate reliably over degraded or contested networks from the edge to the enterprise.
• Integrate third-party cyber tools into the Lattice platform through custom SDKs and white-glove integrations.
• Incorporate AI and LLM-enabled features to improve operator effectiveness without compromising system reliability.
• Contribute to the core Lattice software platform to provide value across the entire company.
• Work directly with program teams and customers to deploy products for real missions.
• Provide technical leadership and design clarity for a growing, complex software stack.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of experience designing, building, and operating production software.
• Experience in one or more of C, C++, Python, Go, Rust, or modern TypeScript/React application development.
• Ability to debug across the full stack including logs, networking, interfaces, configuration, and hardware/software boundaries.
• Practical experience with Linux and containerized deployment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reviews and architecture discussions.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Washington, DC or Orange County, CA.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
• Must be US security clearance eligible (active U.S. Security clearance preferred).
