JOB TITLE: Sr. Software Dev Engineer, Amazon Leo Customer Terminals The Sr. Software Dev Engineer, Amazon Leo Customer Terminals joins the Amazon Leo team to design, build, and maintain software for in-flight connectivity on commercial aircraft. This role involves developing the Leo Aviation Solution, a platform managing cabin Wi-Fi networks, satellite connectivity, and over-the-air software updates. You will build production-quality software for certified embedded environments, implementing modules for cabin network management, observability infrastructure, and cryptographic validation pipelines. Key technologies include C/C++, Linux, and containerized software running on embedded hardware. You will work with VLAN-based traffic prioritization, satellite uplink scheduling, and hardware abstraction layers. The role requires expertise in distributed systems, cloud-to-edge solutions, and aviation-grade development practices, specifically meeting DO-178C Level E standards to ensure secure and reliable airborne communications.

What you'll do

Design and implement core modules for cabin network management, software lifecycle, and connectivity monitoring.
Build production-quality software for certified embedded environments meeting DO-178C Level E standards.
Maintain the OTA software lifecycle pipeline including cryptographic validation, staged activation, and automatic rollback.
Develop observability infrastructure for health endpoints, telemetry collection, and ground-side data pipelines.
Create interface definitions and Architecture Decision Records to ensure cross-workstream alignment.
Execute DO-178C-aligned tests including unit, integration, requirements-based, and hardware-in-the-loop tests.
Integrate software across multiple cabin hardware platforms using hardware abstraction layers for portability.

What we're looking for

6+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
Experience in embedded development in C/C++ or designing/architecting systems for reliability and scaling.
Experience managing and troubleshooting networks or full application stacks from the OS up.
Experience in software QA testing, including writing test plans, use cases, and issue reports.
