The Sr. Manager, AI Engineer (IFX) joins the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences team to develop and deploy proprietary AI solutions that enhance internal workflows and customer interactions. This role involves overseeing the design, development, testing, and support of critical software components including foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, guardrails, and model evaluation. The candidate will make build-vs-buy decisions across a stack featuring AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, and PyTorch while implementing optimization techniques for performance, scalability, and cost. Technical requirements include proficiency in Python, C++, C#, Java, CUDA, or Golang to manage agentic AI systems and MLOps pipelines. The role focuses on the technical challenge of building scalable, high-performance AI infrastructure and operationalizing responsible AI standards within a complex financial services environment to ensure reliable production outcomes.
Oversee the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI software components including LLM inference and model evaluation.
Make high-judgment build-vs-buy decisions regarding open-source and SaaS technologies like Huggingface, VectorDBs, and PyTorch.
Implement state-of-the-art foundation model optimization techniques to improve performance, scalability, cost, and latency in production systems.
Translate enterprise AI goals into actionable team roadmaps with measurable outcomes and regular progress reporting.
Operationalize Responsible AI by establishing review gates, documentation requirements, and rollout standards for all production systems.
Manage the technical roadmap and vision for foundational AI systems while balancing research exploration with production delivery.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and scientists to productize prototypes and meet production SLOs.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Engineering, or related fields plus 6 years of experience developing AI/ML algorithms, or a Master's degree plus 4 years of experience.
At least 1 year of people leadership experience.
3 years of experience managing and leading an engineering team (preferred).
6 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (preferred).
Experience developing AI/ML algorithms using Python, C++, C#, Java, CUDA, or Golang (preferred).
Experience building agentic AI systems and workflows (preferred).
Familiarity with MLOps, AI observability, and model governance to ensure reliability and compliance (preferred).
Track record of mentoring engineers and scientists to productize prototypes and meet production SLOs (preferred).
