The Sr. Lead Software Engineer: Data Engineering joins the Employee Data Technology team to enhance, build, and deliver data collection, storage, access, and analytics in a secure, stable, and scalable way. This role involves designing data platform solutions, defining database backup and archiving strategies, and generating advanced data models using linear algebra, statistical, and geometrical algorithms. The engineer will drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices for code review, refactoring, and test acceleration while ensuring data sensitivity and security. Key technical requirements include strong Python coding skills, deep experience with Databricks and Spark, and proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases. The position requires expertise in AWS, modern lakehouse patterns, and streaming architectures to solve complex data pipeline and architecture challenges.
Design and deliver secure, stable, and scalable data collection, storage, and analytics platform solutions.
Generate advanced data models using firmwide approaches, linear algebra, and statistical algorithms.
Define database backup, recovery, and archiving strategies.
Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Create functional and technical documentation supporting best practices and data management procedures.
Evaluate and report on access control processes to ensure data asset security.
Apply automation capabilities within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve operational value.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on data engineering concepts with architecture and production ownership concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
Strong Python coding skills and deep experience with Databricks and Spark.
Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases.
Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities for data engineering workflows with strong validation habits and data sensitivity awareness.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
Strong experience with AWS and modern lakehouse and data platform patterns.
