What you'll do

  • Perform detailed structural analyses of components, assemblies, and full-scale aircraft.
  • Conduct static and fatigue testing to substantiate the structural integrity of new products.
  • Evaluate fatigue and damage tolerance in accordance with FAA regulations.
  • Review engineering drawings to ensure compliance with design criteria and safety standards.
  • Write technical reports documenting results and regulatory compliance for aerospace components.
  • Utilize finite element modeling (FEM/FEA) tools like Nastran or Abaqus for stress analysis.
  • Apply knowledge of material properties and load calculations to substantiate airframe designs.

What we're looking for

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Degree must be in Aerospace, Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher without rounding.
  • Must be available to work on-site in Savannah, GA during the Spring 2027 semester.
  • Proficiency in stress analysis for metallics and/or composites is preferred.
  • Experience with Finite Element Modeling (FEM/FEA) using tools like Nastran, Patran, Abaqus, or Ansys is desired.
  • Knowledge of Catia V5, coding/scripting (Matlab, Python, C++), and fatigue/damage tolerance is desired.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
