Software Solutions Engineer joins the Datacenter Application & Ecosystem Engineering team as a senior technical leader to solve complex system-level challenges across hardware and software boundaries. This role involves leading the development, validation, and optimization of software solutions for datacenter products while collaborating with architecture, silicon, firmware, operating system, virtualization, and cloud partners. The engineer will perform root cause analysis, develop automation frameworks, conduct performance characterization, and provide technical mentorship to other engineers. Key skills include proficiency in Windows Operating system debugging using WinDBG, kernel debuggers, and trace analysis tools. Candidates must possess expertise in x86 server architecture, Linux distributions, Hyper-V, VMware, or KVM. Technical competencies include programming in Python, C, and C++ to build validation tools and performance infrastructure while addressing complex interactions between firmware, BIOS, device drivers, and kernel subsystems.
Lead the development, validation, and optimization of software solutions for AMD datacenter products.
Investigate complex interactions between hardware, firmware, operating systems, virtualization, and cloud environments.
Provide technical mentorship to engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and troubleshooting assistance.
Execute performance characterization, benchmarking, workload analysis, and optimization strategies.
Design and implement automation frameworks to improve engineering productivity and product quality.
Lead root cause analysis for complex customer-reported issues to ensure timely resolution.

What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
Advanced experience in systems software, platform engineering, operating systems, virtualization, performance engineering, or related areas (preferred).
Strong understanding of x86 server architecture and modern datacenter platforms (preferred).
Extensive experience debugging complex issues using WinDBG, kernel debuggers, trace analysis tools, and performance profiling utilities (preferred).
Experience with Windows Server, Linux distributions, Hyper-V, VMware, KVM, or other virtualization technologies (preferred).
Strong software development skills using Python, C, and/or C++ (preferred).
