As a Software Engineering Technical Leader within the Data Center Engineering team, you will oversee the technical strategy and execution of sophisticated Nexus data center deployments. You will guide customers from architectural planning through production readiness while serving as a trusted authority on complex technologies including Nexus switching, Nexus Dashboard, EVPN/VXLAN, BGP, RoCEv2, PFC, multicast, PTP, and automation. Your daily responsibilities involve resolving high-severity customer challenges across software, hardware, design, and operations, while translating these insights into product improvements. You will champion AI-enabled operational workflows to enhance deployment consistency and mentor senior engineers to elevate architectural standards. The role requires deep expertise in large-scale data center networking environments to solve original technical problems and manage critical trade-offs regarding performance, scalability, resiliency, security, and supportability for modern, scalable infrastructure.
Translate customer feedback and technical hurdles into actionable engineering priorities for the Nexus product portfolio.
Implement automation and AI-enabled workflows to improve deployment consistency and problem resolution speed.
Evaluate critical trade-offs regarding performance, scalability, security, and time-to-market for infrastructure projects.
Communicate complex technical risks and strategies to executive stakeholders and internal engineering leaders.
Mentor senior engineers and establish high standards for architecture and design reviews.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree plus 8 years experience, Master's plus 6 years, PhD plus 3 years, or 10+ years of related experience.
10+ years of data center networking experience across design, deployment, troubleshooting, and operations.
Experience with Cisco Nexus or comparable large-scale data center switching platforms.
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or equivalent experience.
Experience delivering industry standard methodologies including RoCEv2, PFC, BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, multicast, and PTP (preferred).
Experience with Cisco Data Center networking offerings, including Nexus stand-alone, Nexus Dashboard, software, and automation development (preferred).
Experience serving as a technical leader across Cisco, customer, and partner organizations (preferred).
