Software Engineer (Starshield)

What you'll do

• Create highly reliable software systems to control hundreds of satellites in low earth orbit.
• Write high-quality Linux-based C++ software for common processors and microcontrollers.
• Implement networking technologies to direct data across satellites, ground centers, and users.
• Build automated ground-based software systems for smart data processing and satellite command and control.
• Develop models and simulations for flight-like vehicle software testing and network performance analysis.
• Create tools for test execution across virtualized hardware, real hardware-in-the-loop, and vehicle-in-the-loop environments.
• Invent systems to enable frequent software deployment and data analysis within a continuous integration pipeline.
• Manage the full software lifecycle including prototyping, development, testing, and on-orbit rollout.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or scientific discipline; OR 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• Development experience in C, C++, or Python or full stack software development experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or eligible for Department of State authorization.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or Top Secret SCI security clearance.
• Developed and deployed software that has been used in real-world applications and projects (preferred).
• Solid fundamental knowledge of computer architecture and networks (preferred).
• Strong skills in debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing (preferred).
• Experience with networking protocols, Linux kernel development, or high-performance C++ (preferred).
