Software Engineer, Apple Gift Systems

What you'll do

• Design and maintain scalable backend services for global gift card experiences.
• Architect secure, high-performance APIs that handle millions of transactions globally.
• Own the full product lifecycle including design, implementation, deployment, and on-call operations.
• Deploy and operate services using automated delivery pipelines and infrastructure as code.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure production reliability and visibility.
• Lead complex projects from conception to production while driving technical consensus.
• Integrate backend systems with core financial, commerce, and third-party platforms.
• Improve system performance, developer experience, and overall operational excellence.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
• Experience architecting, building, and operating mission-critical distributed systems at large scale.
• Ability to reason about and defend distributed systems trade-offs regarding consistency, latency, and throughput.
• Proficiency with Java or Kotlin and Spring frameworks.
• Experience developing high-volume REST and/or gRPC services for server-to-server or mobile client use.
• Experience designing for containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and building robust CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of security, privacy, and cryptography including encryption, tokenization, and key management.
