Software Engineer, Apple Gift Systems

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services for Apple Gift Card experiences.
• Architect secure, high-performance APIs to handle millions of global transactions.
• Own the full product lifecycle from initial design and implementation through deployment and on-call operations.
• Deploy and operate services on internal cloud platforms using automated delivery pipelines and infrastructure as code.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure production reliability and visibility.
• Lead complex projects from conception to production while driving consensus on technical direction.
• Integrate backend services with core financial systems and external third-party partners.
• Continuously improve system performance, developer experience, and overall operational excellence.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
• Experience architecting, building, and operating mission-critical distributed systems at large scale.
• Ability to reason about distributed systems trade-offs across consistency, latency, and throughput.
• Experience using generative AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Proficiency with Java or Kotlin and Spring (preferred).
• Proven development and operational experience with high-volume REST and/or gRPC services (preferred).
• Experience designing for containerization and orchestration, such as Docker or Kubernetes (preferred).
