As a Software Development Engineer, Leo Autopilot, you will join the Autopilot team to develop software supporting the automated planning and execution of satellite activities. You will work with peer teams and customers to design suitable systems that fulfill mission needs while building low-latency, highly-scalable architecture to generate and execute mission plans for space and ground assets. Your daily responsibilities include developing cloud native software systems, defining technical roadmaps, and mentoring new team members. The role requires proficiency in Java and Python, along with experience using AWS and other Amazon technologies to build high-availability services. You will solve complex problems related to modeling spacecraft behaviors, predicting vehicle states, capturing operational constraints, and generating mission schedules that ensure vehicle health and safety while automating key tasks for the Leo constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit.

What we're looking for
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or granted asylum/refugee status for export control compliance.
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience focusing on patterns, reliability, and scaling.
Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Experience in full software development life cycle including coding standards, reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations (preferred).
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent (preferred).
