As a Senior Software Engineer at Leica Microsystems, you will join the Research and Development team to transform surgical visualization from analog to digital, enhancing real-time insights for surgeons. Your daily tasks include applying deep knowledge of medical imaging workflows and healthcare interoperability standards like DICOM and HL7 FHIR to develop seamless integrations between surgical microscopes and hospital information systems. You will ensure software solutions meet stringent quality and regulatory standards while participating in project definition and sprint development cycles, conducting peer code reviews within a global team. Ideal candidates have at least 8 years of experience with C# and C++, along with expertise in DICOM implementations and AI-powered coding assistants like GitHub Copilot. Familiarity with Azure DevOps Services, Git, AWS Infrastructure tools, and various database engines is beneficial, as well as knowledge of protocols such as MQTT and ONNX Runtime.
Apply medical imaging workflow knowledge to develop features integrating surgical microscopes with hospital information systems using DICOM, HL7 FHIR, and IEEE 11073 standards.
Ensure software solutions meet quality, safety, regulatory, maintainability, and reliability standards through documentation, testing, and adherence to Leica’s Product Development Process.
Participate in project definition phase by establishing risk profiles, defining deliverables, and scheduling for real-time imaging platforms and clinical applications.
Conduct full stack software development and peer code reviews according to team coding standards within a global software team using C# and C++.
Communicate technical decisions effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences across a global team.
What we're looking for
Minimum 8 years of experience in application development using C# and C++
