Senior Software Engineer, Internal Fraud Platform

What you'll do

• Design and operate services that ingest fraud-relevant events from internal systems like billing and support.
• Build data pipelines to deliver event data and contextual features for machine learning models.
• Develop internal tools and workflows for analysts to investigate flagged accounts and take action.
• Manage projects end-to-end from initial problem definition through implementation and operation.
• Build fault-tolerant systems that handle high volumes of fraud signals without loss or duplication.
• Establish architecture patterns, tooling choices, and engineering standards as a founding engineer on the team.
• Translate requirements from cross-functional teams into technical specifications for fraud detection capabilities.

What we're looking for

• Five or more years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience building and operating distributed systems or backend services in production.
• Experience designing and building data or event pipelines using Kafka, Pub/Sub, or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, service security, and standards such as OpenAPI, OAuth, or JWT.
• Working knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Ability to own ambiguous, 0-to-1 projects with limited existing infrastructure.
• Experience in fraud, risk, trust & safety, or payments engineering (preferred).
• Export control laws, including the U.S. Export Administration Regulations.
