Senior Software Engineer, Build Systems & CI

What you'll do

• Develop Bazel rules, toolchains, and integrations to ensure reproducible builds across large monorepos.
• Optimize Buildkite pipeline throughput by reducing queue times and managing CI compute capacity.
• Reduce redundant build work through dependency analysis, incremental builds, caching, and parallel execution.
• Create developer tools that provide clear diagnostics for build failures and local reproduction of CI behavior.
• Integrate AI technologies to provide intelligent diagnosis, automated recovery, and guided troubleshooting for developers.
• Instrument and operate infrastructure by using metrics and feedback to track latency, reliability, and resource usage.
• Lead platform improvements from design through rollout while mentoring teammates on technical decisions and code reviews.

What we're looking for

• You must have 5+ years of software engineering experience in developer infrastructure, build systems, or CI platforms.
• You must be able to write maintainable production software in Go, Java, Kotlin, or Python.
• You must possess strong debugging and software design skills.
• You must have experience with build or CI systems at scale, including dependency analysis, incremental builds, caching, and distributed execution.
• Experience with Bazel, Buildkite, or large monorepos is especially relevant (preferred).
• You must have led technical projects across teams and managed them through rollout and operational ownership.
• You must be able to investigate performance and reliability problems across multiple components using evidence-based solutions.
• You must be able to mentor teammates and improve team workflows through communication and automation.
