As a Senior Sensor Fusion Engineer - Autonomous Vehicles, you will join the DRIVE Road structure, Online mapping, and Context Fusion team to develop a complete 3D world model for autonomous driving systems. You will be responsible for fusing SOTA perception DNN and map signals to create real-time models used by planning systems in complex urban and highway scenarios. Your daily work involves building fused static obstacles, occupancy grids, and occlusion masks while ensuring algorithms perform reliably across large amounts of real and synthetic data. You will utilize camera, lidar, radar, and HD maps to enable navigation in challenging environments. Key technical skills include 3D computational geometry, computer vision, sensor fusion, localization, mapping, trajectory optimization, and state estimation algorithms like Kalman or particle filters. You must produce code meeting automotive quality and safety standards.

What you'll do

Develop core autonomous driving functionality by fusing state-of-the-art perception DNNs with map signals.
Generate real-time 3D world models from sensor and external data for use by planning systems.
Create enriched BEV models to enable HD mapless driving in complex urban environments.
Build accurate, reliable world models from camera, lidar, radar, and map signals for highway autonomy.
Construct fused static obstacles, occupancy grids, and occlusion masks to enrich autonomous vehicle scenarios.
Provide technical leadership and guidance on approaches to solve complex autonomous vehicle problems.
Ensure algorithms perform reliably across large amounts of real and synthetic data in diverse conditions.
Produce code and designs that comply with automotive quality and safety standards.

What we're looking for

BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience.
8+ years of experience with at least 2+ years specifically in the AV or robotics industry.
2+ years of experience technically leading areas.
Independent and analytical software engineering skills.
Software development experience on embedded or automotive platforms.
Outstanding communication and cross-team collaboration skills, especially with multinational teams.
Background in 3D computational geometry, computer vision, sensor fusion, localization, mapping, trajectory optimization, or state estimation algorithms (preferred).
Significant industry experience in the AV area, specifically self-driving cars, and experience developing real-time Computer Vision systems (preferred).
