TL;DR · Senior Information Assurance Engineer

As a Senior Information Assurance Engineer, you will join the team to lead cybersecurity engineering activities across the entire system life cycle. You will be responsible for defining and implementing secure system architectures using defense-in-depth principles, developing critical artifacts like System Security Plans and Security Control Traceability Matrices, and managing Risk Management Framework activities including control selection, tailoring, and authorization package development. Your daily work involves translating mission objectives into actionable engineering requirements, performing technical analyses of networks and interfaces to ensure compliance with DISA STIGs and NCDSMO requirements, and collaborating in Agile environments to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines. You will utilize expertise in NIST SP 800-37, secure software development life cycles, and multi-level security architectures to solve complex security challenges within the space, satellite communications, and mission systems domain.

What you'll do

  • Define and implement secure system architectures using defense-in-depth principles with development and operations teams.
  • Lead cybersecurity engineering activities across the full system life cycle, including requirements decomposition and accreditation.
  • Serve as the technical authority for design reviews and decisions regarding security architecture and data flows.
  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity artifacts such as System Security Plans (SSPs) and security requirement specifications.
  • Create and maintain Security Control Traceability Matrices (SCTMs) to ensure end-to-end traceability of security requirements.
  • Manage Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities including system categorization, control tailoring, and POA&M management.
  • Map and assess technical guidance such as DISA STIGs and NCDSMO requirements against system designs.
  • Perform technical analyses of networks and systems to verify compliance with government security specifications.

What we're looking for

  • Must possess a Department of Defense Secret security clearance at the time of hire.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for eligibility to access classified information.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics with 8 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6 years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity systems engineering, RMF (NIST SP 800-37), and defense-in-depth principles.
  • Ability to develop security artifacts including System Security Plans, SCTMs, and POA&M management.
  • Experience mapping and assessing DISA STIGs and NCDSMO requirements within system architectures.
  • Preferred experience with SSDLC, DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and multi-level security (MLS) environments.
  • Active cybersecurity certification such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, or CEH is preferred.
