TL;DR · Senior HPC and Quantum Systems Engineer

The Senior HPC and Quantum Systems Engineer joins a team focused on building and operating an Accelerated Quantum Computing Center. This role involves architecting, deploying, and managing a hybrid platform that integrates large-scale GPU clusters with physical quantum processors including neutral atom, trapped ion, and superconducting modalities. You will manage the lifecycle of Linux systems, Slurm job schedulers, networking, storage, and containerized applications while ensuring infrastructure meets specific power and cooling requirements for quantum hardware. Key technical tools include CUDA-Q, cuQuantum, NVQlink, Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane, and Braket. You will serve as a technical interface with partners to integrate control systems and coordinate hybrid workloads across simulation, error correction, and machine learning. The role solves the critical problem of transitioning experimental quantum hardware into reliable, high-impact research platforms by bridging quantum research with production infrastructure.

What you'll do

  • Build and operate a hybrid platform integrating large-scale GPU clusters with physical quantum processors.
  • Integrate quantum control systems into HPC infrastructure using tools like CUDA-Q, cuQuantum, and Slurm.
  • Manage the reliability, performance, and lifecycle of Linux systems, networking, storage, and QPU hardware.
  • Coordinate with facilities teams to ensure power, cooling, and low-latency connectivity meet quantum requirements.
  • Serve as the technical interface for quantum hardware partners to manage system bring-up and integration.
  • Define hosting and architecture requirements for new quantum systems entering the facility.
  • Optimize and benchmark hybrid workloads across simulation, error correction, and machine learning applications.
  • Prototype and document end-to-end workflows to demonstrate platform capabilities to internal researchers.

What we're looking for

  • 12+ years of hands-on experience operating HPC or large-scale compute infrastructure in production environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or Computer Science (PhD preferred).
  • Strong background in Linux systems administration and job schedulers like Slurm.
  • Proven experience working in data center environments including networking, storage, power, and operational constraints.
  • Familiarity with quantum computing concepts and hardware architectures such as neutral atom, trapped ion, superconducting, and photonic.
  • Experience or strong interest in quantum software environments including CUDA-Q, Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane, Braket, or similar.
  • Direct experience integrating or hosting physical quantum hardware in a data center or HPC environment (preferred).
  • Deep knowledge of quantum–classical orchestration, low-latency data paths, and scientific application support (preferred).
