As an Inverter Engineer at AES Clean Energy, you will join the Technical Services team to enhance operational performance of utility-scale PV inverters across the US. Your daily tasks include troubleshooting electrical equipment, coordinating with reliability engineers on technology improvements, and conducting root cause analysis for asset incidents. You’ll also develop preventive maintenance procedures and standard operating protocols while leveraging AES APEX and Lean Six Sigma methodologies to optimize asset performance. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s in Engineering or related field with 3-5 years of experience in high-voltage design, solar engineering, or similar areas. Familiarity with SCADA systems is beneficial, as are strong troubleshooting skills, project management capabilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. This role demands expertise in process improvement, business performance analysis, and inverter systems to address critical operational challenges at scale.
Provide engineering support for troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance of AES Clean Energy's PV inverter fleet.
Coordinate with reliability engineers to implement improvement technologies for the inverter fleet.
Monitor new inverter technology innovations and provide recommendations for implementation.
Perform technical due diligence and develop O&M cost assumptions for new inverter opportunities.
Develop and lead projects to enhance asset performance using Lean Six Sigma tools.
Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for ad hoc and chronic incidents, developing recovery plans based on findings.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
Experience in high-voltage design, solar design, battery energy storage, substations, relay settings, HV/MV utility equipment, maintenance/operations, NERC compliance, civil/structural, power system studies, SCADA integration, and transmission.
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent duties effectively.
Proficiency in process improvement, business performance, and inverter/power electronics systems.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) for building relationships and trust.
Ability to travel up to 35% for project management and on-site support.
