TL;DR · Senior Audio Intelligence Triage and Integration Engineer

The Senior Audio Intelligence Triage and Integration Engineer joins the Apple Watch software team to investigate complex issues within intelligent audio features. This role involves triaging problems across the full software stack, including sound and speech recognition, on-device and cloud-based language models, and secure system software. You will reproduce issues, analyze logs and crash reports, identify root causes, and coordinate testing with QA teams. Key responsibilities include integrating software changes and building AI-assisted tools and agentic workflows using LLMs, skills, and Model Context Protocol. Required technical skills include proficiency in Python, shell scripting, and the ability to debug Swift, Objective-C, or C. You will also utilize Xcode, Instruments, and Core ML to support on-device machine learning and performance profiling.

What you'll do

  • Investigate complex issues across the software stack to identify root causes and regression points.
  • Analyze logs, crash reports, and diagnostics to identify trends and drive issues to resolution.
  • Integrate software changes and provide patches to engineering and QA teams for evaluation.
  • Design, build, and deploy AI-assisted triage tools and agentic workflows using LLMs.
  • Build and maintain shared knowledge bases to provide context for engineers and AI tools.
  • Measure the accuracy and impact of AI tools and improve them based on results.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, quality, or reliability engineering.
  • Strong debugging skills with macOS, iOS, or other UNIX-based systems and an understanding of OS fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in Python and shell scripting, with the ability to understand and debug Swift, Objective-C, or C.
  • Hands-on experience building tools or workflows with LLMs, including agents, skills, or Model Context Protocol (MCP).
  • Understanding of how ML models are evaluated and deployed, and how they fail.
  • Experience with bug tracking, source control (preferably git), and continuous integration systems.
  • Experience with speech recognition, audio processing, NLP, on-device ML, or RAG (preferred).
