The Senior AI Engineer (AI Foundations) joins the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences team to advance the state of the art in science and AI engineering. In this role, you will partner with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components. Key responsibilities include foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability. You will invent state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve performance, scalability, cost, latency, and throughput for large scale production systems. The role requires proficiency with Python, Go, Scala, or Java, alongside technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, and PyTorch. You will solve technical problems by building proprietary solutions that empower other teams to deliver responsible and scalable AI products.

What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus 3 years of AI/ML experience.
Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus 1 year of AI/ML experience.
At least 3 years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
4 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (preferred).
Experience developing, delivering, and supporting AI services (preferred).
Experience developing AI/ML algorithms like LLM Inference, Similarity Search, and VectorDBs using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang (preferred).
Experience applying state-of-the-art techniques for optimizing training and inference software to improve hardware utilization, latency, throughput, and cost (preferred).
